Caroline Sherrard, Chief of Staff for Senator Becca Rausch

Caroline Sherrard

Chief of Staff

Caroline graduated from Tufts University with a Political Science and Community Health degree. She first worked in the House for Representative Mary Keefe from Worcester and then for  Representative Byron Rushing. As Chief of Staff, Caroline keeps the office running on all cylinders and serves as the Senator's primary advisor.

Alana Westwater, Outreach Director for Senator Becca Rausch

Outreach Director

A Framingham native, Alana grew up with close ties to the District and worked as the Field Director for the Senator’s campaign in 2018. Alana spends her free time learning to snowboard and going to farmers markets. As Outreach Director, Alana maintains strong relationships throughout the District and manages all constituent services.


Matthew Douglass

General Counsel

Prior to attending law school, Matt worked on the field staff of several Democratic campaigns. As an attorney, Matt has worked in public service as a securities regulator and in private litigation practice.  In his current role as Legislative Director, Matt manages the Senator's lawmaking work.

Evan Berry, Legislative Aide for Senator Becca Rausch

Communications Director

A Medfield native and graduate of McGill University, Evan first collaborated with Team Rausch as a field organizer for the 2018 coordinated Democratic campaign. He is a 2019 New Leaders Council fellow, Americorps alum, Fulbright scholar, and avid potlucker. As Communications Director, Evan manages the Senator's social media accounts and press relations.

Gwen Mecsas

Legislative Aide

Raised in Needham, Gwen first joined Team Rausch as intern serving the Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex district amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, she also worked in Senator John F. Keenan Office’s and at the Massachusetts Voter Table. In May of 2021, Gwen will graduate from Tufts University with a degree in International Relations. As legislative aide, Gwen manages Senator Rausch’s schedule and supports all other staff with legislative and policy research, communications, and constituent services.
