Climate Action
As Chair of the Joint Committee on the Environment and Natural Resources, I am committed to combating climate change. During my first term in office, I voted in favor of an omnibus climate package to create a roadmap for a carbon neutral Massachusetts by 2050. Last session, the Massachusetts Senate led the Legislature to pass nation-leading climate change legislation—twice. My legislative proposal to monitor the carbon emissions of large buildings in our Commonwealth was included in the legislative package that set a course for Massachusetts to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Progressive and equitable policy is necessary to address climate change. I have filed several bills this session to reduce harmful greenhouse gases and plastic waste, which will help us continue down the path towards a healthier planet. I will continue to advocate for climate action and environmental justice to further the Commonwealth’s climate goals and create a better future for generations to come.
